F & B Conquer the ALCAN – March 8

Dear fellow followers of The Adventure,

Grueling it was!  Grim visage of perseverance.  Visibilities in blowing snow made this day at times a white knuckle experience for our Intrepid Voyagers.  With massive 18-wheelers towing double trailers and hogging the road they were often in whiteout conditions and even slowing down has its perils.  Add on top of that the ceaseless snow and the almost impossible battle to beat the dark to civilization and a safe harbor and you have not your average day at the office.  Now, who among us anticipated anything but a successful test and, ahem, they narrowly succeeded against the adversities!  Arriving at Watson Lake before dark.

They feasted on, well, fish–not the best choice in the eastern Yukon as you can imagine; might of been frozen since our bard, Robert Service, passed through.  Let’s hope they get some sleep tonight…

Tomorrow they Sally Forth (well, F and B forth) for Fort Nelson to the East and out of the mountains and the cruel influence of maritime weather patterns.  Mainly that means not-so-cold, not-so-snowy, we’ll see…

Catch the continuing saga of F and B Conquer the ALCAN beginning at 9 Pacific time tomorrow.
