If this is what cruising is all about….We’re loving it!

Watching weather windows open and close down the west coast, we’re snug and happy here in Anacortes.  It’s surprising how quickly we become comfortable in a nice port like this one.  We have our favorite breakfast spot (Calico Cupboard – they make GREAT breves), Anthony’s is within stumbling distance, and mostly we’ve had very nice weather.

Oh, and the Saturday Market!  Last week’s haul was: asparagus (yum), a beautiful rib-eye, onions, smoked salmon, a mushroom brick (to grow our very own Shitakes), mint for our Mojitos (working on perfecting the recipe, it’s going to take a lot of taste testing), and shrimp – fresh caught (not quite what we’re used to from Prince William – gives meaning to the word, but very tasty).

Friday we went over to Deception Pass to watch the 6+ knot current and were we glad we were watching from a bridge, not from the water.  As our boat goes about 7 knots, it would have been an “interesting” trip in either direction.  As it was, we enjoyed the view, did a little hiking, then into Oak Harbor for a lovely meal at Fraser’s Gourmet Hideaway.

And though our days are “just packed” (see Calvin & Hobbes for the reference), we’re never quite sure what we’ve done at the end of them.  But look forward to the next and fall exhausted into (our new, big, REALLY comfortable) bed each night.
