What a day! We’ve had good wind (15 – 20 knots) in a direction that takes us where we want to go, at a reasonable speed! YAY!

The ride is a little bumpy, fortunately, no seasickness for either of us. The biggest mishaps are the bumps and bruises we’re getting when the boat zigs and we zag. It’s as if we’re having a contest to see who can get the most, and most colorful bruises on their shins – well, and other places too.

Today, other than gybing early this morning to head west, instead of south, it’s been pretty quiet. We’ve each napped more than usual, I’ve called my dad (he’s fine). And, we’re both reading ‘Typee’ by Herman Melville. It’s set in the Marquesas – just where we’re headed. The writing is lovely and the descriptions of the beauty of the islands are making us ever more eager to arrive. And last we heard, the locals no longer eat visitors…

I think we’ll have pizza for dinner tonight. More tomorrow.

  1. I guess I’ll have to look at the map to find the exact location of the Marquesas…… sounds fantastic, though, and exotic! Btw, don’t know if you read facebook, but I posted a photo of the new Hanalei pier shelter, which is almost done. Summer has arrived in Kauai!!
