Leaving it to the pros

We’re off the trail today and tomorrow while the UTMB “runs” through, literally. We’re snug in Pension en Plein Air, in Champex Lac, Switzerland cheering on the Ultimate Tour du Mont Blanc runners. Yes, the winners will complete in about 24 hours what we’re taking 20 days to do. Over 100 miles, the equivalent of climbing Mt. Everest and coming back down, in elevation gained and lost. In UNDER 24 HOURS!

I’m quite happy to not be hiking today or tomorrow. The weather is icky, yes, that’s a technical term meaning, rainy, very low clouds and now the wind is picking up! Sunday looks to be a beautiful day – perfect for hiking over our first ‘col’ (mountain pass).

Champex Lac is a nice village nestled around a beautiful alpine lake. Getting here is not for those with acrophobia.

Donna, Richard and I are fine, getting into the swing of this TMB, and generally enjoying ourselves. More later.
